How to Wash and Lanolize

Though hand washing and lanolizing may seem difficult and time consuming, once you try it you will realize there is really nothing to it. Washing should be done about once every other week or so and lanolizing should be done about once every other month or so. Our Naturally Luxe Wool Wash contains a good amount of lanolin in it which makes it so you don't have to lanolize as often

To wash simply fill your sink with room temperature water and dissolve some of your Naturally Luxe Wool Wash in the water. For tougher soils rub your wool wash bar directly on the soil and work the soap into the fibers. Then place your woolies in the sink and let it sit for about 15 min. Let the water drain and then fill your sink with fresh room temperature water to rinse. Place your woolies back in the water and let them soak for a little bit. Drain again.

If you need to lanolize also, after the soak in wool wash, drain our your sink and remove the woolies. Next, plug up the sink again and fill it with room temperature to lukewarm water. Drizzle in about a pea sized amount of our Naturally Luxe Liquid Lanolin and allow it to disperse and dissolve. Turn your woolies inside out and place them in the lanolin water. Allow them to soak for at least 15min. Turning them over occasionally so they lanolize evenly.

To dry, gently press out what water you can in the sink. Then lay a towel down on the floor and lay your woolies out ontop of it. Roll the towel with the woolies and press on them to get out more of the water. Repeat one or two more times with a dry part of the towel (or another dry towel). Lay your woolies on a flat surface out of the sun to dry.

Alternately, if you pay close attention you can use your washer machine to wash and spin dry your woolies (please don't lanolize in the washer... it's not good for it). Set your washer to a small or mini load and allow it to fill (alternate between warm and cold so you get the right temperature water). When the basin has water in it turn the washer off. Dissolve some of your wool wash in the basin and place your woolies in the washer to soak. To spin dry, turn the dial to drain and spin and allow the woolies to drain and spin out. Do not allow your woolies to sit in the washer and agitate as this will felt and shrink your woolies.
